  • What is InkPoster? Icon Chevron

InkPoster is a Digital Art Poster with color ePaper screens created to display static art in full color and gallery-level quality. InkPosters’ screens are reflective, ensuring a paper-like look without backlight and glare. These posters are battery-powered, cordless, and can operate for up to 1 year on a single charge depending on usage. The InkPoster App enables wireless content management and provides access to a curated collection of thousands of artworks. InkPoster is developed by PocketBook, a Swiss company with decades of experience in ePaper display technology.

  • How is InkPoster different from photo-frames and Art TVs? Icon Chevron

Unlike photo frames and art TVs (which use backlit LCD/OLED/other panels), InkPoster uses an e-paper screen, which:

    • Uses power only when the image changes.
    • Doesn’t require backlight and doesn’t emit harmful Blue Light.
    • Is glare-free and paper-like, looking like real printed art rather than a screen.

    InkPoster is also:

    • Cordless and wireless.
    • Completely silent and doesn’t emit heat.
  • Where can I use InkPoster? Icon Chevron

You can use it in homes, galleries, hotels, offices, restaurants, and retail spaces. Its cordless design makes it ideal for locations where visible wiring is undesirable. And its health-conscious approach makes InkPoster a safe and sustainable solution for any living space, even bedrooms or childrens’ rooms.

  • How long does InkPoster's battery last? Icon Chevron

The battery can last up to a year on a single charge, depending on how frequently you update the image.

  • Does InkPoster need constant power connection? Icon Chevron

No, InkPoster is cordless and battery-powered. Power is only needed when changing an image, that’s why it works for up to a year on a single charge.

  • Does InkPoster have a backlight (and does it need a backlight)? Icon Chevron

InkPoster does not need a backlight to display paper-like art in a gallery-level quality. It uses reflective e-paper technology, making it look like traditional printed art. No backlight also makes InkPoster a sustainable and health-conscious solution that emits no harmful Blue Light, has no heat emissions (especially when it is used in Power-Off mode), and is completely silent.

  • Where can users take the art content for InkPoster? Icon Chevron

InkPoster provides access to thousands of curated artworks via the InkPoster App, which can be downloaded at the App Store or Google Play. You can also upload and display your own photographs or images.

  • Why do I need the InkPoster App? Icon Chevron

The InkPoster App is essential for all InkPoster users. Here's why:

    • Initial setup: you need the application to connect the InkPoster to Wi-Fi and pair it with your account.
    • Content management: all artwork uploads, image changes, and access to the curated art library happen through the application.
    • Device control: you manage multiple devices, orientation, and other settings via the application.
    • Firmware updates: the application may also handle system updates to keep your InkPoster functioning properly.

Without the InkPoster App, the device can't receive new images or be customized. It’s the primary interface for interacting with your InkPoster.

  • Can I display my own pictures on InkPoster?  Icon Chevron

Yes, via the InkPoster App, you can upload and display images from your personal gallery.

  • Do I have to crop/resize my pictures to make them fit InkPoster’s screen size? Icon Chevron

InkPoster App offers convenient and easy-to-use adjustment tools to make your images match the aspect ratio of the device, depending on the device’s orientation mode - portrait or landscape.

  • Why does the process of image appearing on the screen take longer than on LCD/OLED/QLED devices or E Ink e-readers? Icon Chevron

InkPoster uses a full-color ePaper technology. Unlike LCD or OLED, which update pixels instantly using light, E Ink relies on moving charged pigment particles to form an image — a slower mechanical process.

Aligning millions of color e-ink microcapsules for accurate art reproduction is called “ink-printing”. You may see it as flickering while selected art is appearing on the screen. It may take 10-20 seconds.

  • What is “ink-printing” Icon Chevron

At the core of every InkPoster's ePaper screen are millions of microcapsules filled with color pigments. When an electric field is applied, these pigments rise to the surface to form vibrant, lifelike images.

This process is called “ink-printing”, you may see it as flickering while selected art is appearing on the screen. It may take 10-20 seconds.

  • Why does an InkPoster Tela equipped with a 28.5-inch screen have a higher price than an InkPoster Affresco with 31.5-inch screen? Icon Chevron

The difference in price reflects the different screen technologies used and the associated components’ costs.

The 31.5-inch screen of InkPoster Affresco is based on the cutting-edge E Ink Spectra 6 color technology. The 28.5-inch InkPoster Tela model is equipped with a screen that combines the same E Ink Spectra 6 with Sharp IGZO technology.  The E Ink Spectra 6 ensures vivid full-color performance, while the IGZO backplane delivers even faster image updates.

  • Can I replace the battery of InkPoster myself? Icon Chevron

As of now, the battery is not user-replaceable. The battery servicing or replacement — if needed — should be done by the certified service partners.

  • May I display both black-and-white and color content? Icon Chevron

Yes, InkPoster ensures gallery-level quality of full-color and monochrome (black-and-white) images. InkPoster’s ePaper screen supports about 60,000 colors.

  • Can I use it in both vertical and horizontal orientation? Icon Chevron

Yes, the device supports portrait and landscape modes, depending on how you mount it.

  • Can I control my InkPoster remotely? Icon Chevron

Yes, you can change artworks on your InkPoster remotely. Here is how to do it:

    • Ensure Wi-Fi on your InkPoster is switched-on.
    • In the InkPoster App, set the “Sync Interval.”
    • When you're away from your device (just next door or in another country), select new art and send it to your InkPoster.
    • Based on the chosen sync interval, the device will receive and update the artwork.
  • How to wake the InkPoster from Shipping mode? Icon Chevron

Out of the box, your new InkPoster is in Shipping mode. To exit Shipping mode and initialize the device, connect the charger to the InkPoster using the supplied USB-C cable.

  • How do I perform a factory reset? Icon Chevron

To reset your InkPoster press the Power button 7 times. A successful factory reset will be followed by the default screensaver picture being displayed on the screen. After the reset procedure, add your InkPoster to your InkPoster App account again.

You can also perform a reset through the application Menu. Just make sure you are within Bluetooth range.

  • How Does Power-Off mode work? Icon Chevron

In Power-Off mode, your InkPoster continues to display artworks in gallery-quality, while consuming no power and generating no heat. This feature enhances energy efficiency without compromising visual appeal.

    To activate Power-Off mode:

    • Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    • The LED indicator will blink three times, confirming the shutdown, then turn off.
    • Your InkPoster is now powered off, but the current image will remain visible on the screen.

In Power-Off mode, the device is effectively turned off and does not maintain any connection to the server or the app.

The device can be powered on again with a single press of the Power button.

  • What is the “ghosting effect” and how can I remove it? Icon Chevron

Ghosting is a common effect observed across all E Ink screens. You may see it as traces of a previous image remain visible after the display updates. To prevent ghosting, we suggest changing art on your InkPoster at least once per 2-3 months.

To get rid of ghosting, update the image on your InkPoster for 7-10 times, until it is removed.

  • Why/when do I need the “Forget InkPoster” feature? Icon Chevron

You need the “Forget InkPoster” feature if you plan to gift or transfer your InkPoster to someone else. Without using this feature, the new user won’t be able to add the device to their account in the InkPoster App.

  • Can I add more than one InkPoster to my account in the InkPoster App? Icon Chevron

Yes, you can add multiple InkPosters to your account, allowing you to create your own personalized art wall of several InkPosters.

  • Why do InkPosters have these particular sizes and proportions of mat boards /passepartouts? Icon Chevron

The sizes and proportions of the frame and passepartout were thoughtfully designed by PocketBook’s award-winning product design team. Their work has received multiple recognitions with the Red Dot Award. Inspired by classic gallery frames, these proportions are carefully chosen to complement the presentation of artworks on the InkPoster.

  • What is the maximum resolution of a photo or picture I can upload? Icon Chevron

There is no limitation on the maximum resolution of the image uploaded to InkPoser. The system will automatically resize the image to match the resolution supported by the specific InkPoser model. However, the higher the resolution of the image, the longer the processing time will be.
